Gennaro Gattuso may not have enough experience as a coach. But in character and style of handling the team, he had a resemblance to Fabio Capello.
Gattuso appointed AC Milan as coach, following Vincenzo Montella’s dismissal. Montella considered failing to bring a competitive team throughout the season, where the Rossoneri scattered in the position of seven Serie A standings.
Gattuso’s appointment as a coach is quite questionable, given the former midfielder is less experienced as a coach and often fired. Moreover, Milan also has a history of not okay with coaches minimal experience of Gattuso, call it Clarence Seedorf, Filippo Inzaghi, and Cristian Brocchi.
But Milan’s decision to appoint Gattuso has the support of Gianluca Zambrotta. Former Gattuso team-mate at Milan and the Italian national team judged Gattuso to be preparing himself seriously for this job, also had the right character.
“If you look to his preparations and his ties to this uniform color, it’s almost no surprise, he gives so much to Milan and vice versa, he knows the history of this club and what it means” Milan spirit “,” Zambrotta told Gazzetta dello Sport.
“His courage and character are extra values, he knows how to get players to fight for the team, even in difficult situations, as a coach he does that in Pisa, Crete, Palermo.”
“He is a fearless man, and that is an important gift to those who work in this field, he also offers something more than motivation and knows how to get more from the players he handles,” he added as quoted by Football Italia.
Zambrotta even likens Gattuso with his mentor, Capello. Zambrotta and Capello are currently an office at the Chinese League club, Jiangsu Suning. Capello head coach, Zambrotta’s assistant.
As a figure well acquainted with Gattuso and Capello, Zambrotta mentions both to have courage and hardness. But of course Capello has what Gattuso does not currently have: experience and success.
Capello has been a professional coach for 30 years and is a champion in Italy, Spain, and Europe.
“Coaches are similar to the characters and the way they handle the team, I will say Capello, both have charisma and are not afraid to say something in front of you Both live in football with their courage,” Zambrotta said.
